Repair or adapt

The best environmental choice is to repair, restore or adapt a product you already have. You may need professional help but it could still be cheaper than something new.

Wishing You a Green Christmas!

Christmas is nearly here and we'll soon hear Santa's sleigh flying overhead! Let's make this Christmas the greenest ever by recycling as much as we can and reducing the amount of rubbish we create.

We have some top tips for a Green Christmas below.

  • Hate what you received last year? Write a gift list so you get exactly what you want!
  • Reuse biscuit tins as handy boxes and fill with homemade baked goods
  • Get crafty and make your own decorations from recycled junk.
  • Purchase gifts from Christmas Markets and independent retailers to avoid over packaged items.
  • Recycle all your festive food leftovers into meals for your family.  Visit Love Food Hate Waste for lots of recipe ideas.
  • Compost fresh floral decorations such as mistletoe and holly.
  • Pop your Christmas tree out for collection alongside your garden waste bin or take it to your local HWRC. Check with your local council for collection details.
  • Recycle everything you can! Did you know recycling just one wine bottle can save the equivalent energy of powering a computer for 20 minutes?
  • Save Christmas cards for making gift tags next year.
  • Make a cardboard fort from cardboard toy boxes!
